Full course description
This course will present an evidence-based approach for the implementation of high-intensity, progressive rehabilitation that emphasizes specific, targeted exercise to improve strength, functional mobility, and performance of activities of daily living. This approach, termed i-STRONGER, can be implemented by all rehabilitation professionals (PT, PTA, OT, COTA) in all settings, from hospital to home.
After completing this course, the learner will:
- Understand changes in the healthcare environment that will impact the rehabilitation of older adults across the continuum of care
- Apply principles of continuous screening to determine safe patient participation in high-intensity rehabilitation
- Understand the physiological principles that form the basis of high-intensity rehabilitation
- Integrate concepts and skills of high-intensity rehabilitation into practice for the care of older adults
- Synthesize concepts and skills of high-intensity rehabilitation to transition patients to the next level of care
